Core Values

Meet the Owner
Hi, my name is Sandy Perrine, and I own Allegheny Fine Gardening. My business was built on a deep commitment to others and the opportunity to do what I love—help gardens thrive. I take pride in working alongside my clients to enhance their landscapes and nurture their plants.
My journey in horticulture began with a Horticulture Internship at Manufacturers’ Golf & Country Club in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, where I built a strong foundation in professional garden care. From there, I deepened my understanding of sustainable practices while working on an organic farm in northern Vermont. At George Washington University in Washington, D.C., I expanded my skills maintaining diverse landscapes on a large, urban scale. Later, on a private estate in McLean, Virginia, I refined high-level techniques for meticulous garden maintenance and plant health.
Each step along the way taught me valuable skills—from precision pruning to organic growing methods—that I now bring to Allegheny Fine Gardening. Today, I specialize in premium garden maintenance.
I live in Christiansburg with my husband and our two sons.
Why “Allegheny”?
Allegheny Fine Gardening officially began in spring of 2024.
The inspiration for the name of the business and my reason for starting AFG is the life and death of my stillborn daughter, Allegheny Grace Perrine. Allie taught me so much in the short time she was with me, and in the grief of her death, the importance of finding balance between work and life and that chasing the dollar isn’t what it is all about. She taught me that building a community around you that can love and care for you no matter what and you for them is a true gift. Also that life is too short to do something you hate. We can’t control when and how this life ends for us, so do what you love to do while you can do it.
Allegheny Fine Gardening is for my daughter Allie. To memorialize her short life and to remember all she taught me.
